What makes the perfect destination for a getaway with the guys? If your answer includes great fishing, challenging golf, excellent craft beer, and places to explore, set your sights on Savannah.
You’ll want to book a vacation rental that puts you in the center of all the action. Hunters Knoll, a three-bedroom/3-and-a-half bath house near Forsyth Park, offers a modern look with comfortable furnishings and all amenities - including WiFi. Or enjoy time around the private pool at the four-bedroom Seona House down the road from Pulaski Square. This home also features two full-size living rooms and two gourmet kitchens for plenty of entertaining options.
Get out on the water with a fishing charter. Miss Judy Charters has been putting visitors on the fish since 1956. These customized trips can take anglers offshore or inshore. Inshore trips range from four to six hours, while offshore excursions range from four hours to 12 hours, and longer. Miss Judy’s also offers shark fishing trips and a fly-fishing school.
Southern Saltwater Charters offers inshore and near shore light tackle fishing for redfish, trout, flounder, sheepshead and more. The experienced captain is a local who grew up fishing the waters, so he knows how to find the fish. The prices include all gear and fishing licenses.
Book a tee time at Crosswinds Golf Club, an 18-hole, open design that’s great for all ages and skill levels. It’s a great course with a friendly staff. Bacon Park offers two courses: the Donald Ross with 18 holes of challenging golf that offers some twists and turns; and The Legends Course, nine holes with a unique layout of enormous and undulating greens. Two other local courses also offer nine holes of fun golf. The Mary Calder Golf Course offers play through idyllic scenery, pristine fairways and strategically placed bunkers. The beautiful La Vida Golf Club is semi-private, but open to the public Monday through Thursday.
Or play a variation of the game at the Forest Hills Disc Golf Course. Located in the center of Savannah in a quiet park, Forest Hills offers challenging round that winds through the woods.
Whether you spend the day on the water or the fairway, unwind with a craft beer. Savannah’s brew culture is hopping (see what we did there?). The Historic District features several spots to sit and sip. Selections at Moon River Brewing Company range from a Yoga Pants Southern-style pale ale to The Captain’s Robust Porter. Happy Hour is 4-7 p.m. daily and the kitchen serves a full menu.
Service Brewing Company on River Street is a veteran-owned business that crafts a selection of year ‘round and seasonal American beers. The tap room offers events on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday nights.
White Whale Craft Ales is a craft beer market with a tasting room a block south of Forsyth Park. The craft beer package store offers a great place to taste beers from around the world, then take home your favorites. Two other favorite spots are World of Beer and the Savannah Taphouse, both of which offer a full food menu.
Book your stay and get the gang back together for a road trip to Savannah.
