Savannah comes to life in the spring. With its flowers in full bloom, plenty of sunshine and warm weather, it’s a magical time to visit the city. With the First Day of Spring on March 20, plan a Savannah trip and get in on some of the city’s spring festivities.
March 23-25: During Paint Out Savannah!, Savannah Art Association welcomes painters to an annual plein air competition. The hostess city provides endless paintable opportunities from coastal marshes, sandy beaches, historic squares, and architecturally stunning city blocks.
March 23-April 8: For music lovers, Savannah Music Festival brings a full lineup of musicians from all genres to various venues around the city.
March 26: The Savannah Veg Fest takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Forsyth Park Band Shell, 699 Drayton St. The free event includes exhibitors showcasing the benefits of an eco-friendly, plant-based lifestyle, food, and live music.
April 1: Run the tree-lined streets and city squares during the Publix Savannah Women’s Half & 5K. Experience Savannah as you run through some of our city’s most scenic spots and cap it all off by finishing in front of the Forsyth Park Fountain.
April 2: Enjoy spring weather and beautiful scenery during The Spring Festival at Skidaway Island State Park, which includes local vendors and food trucks. Bring along your friends, families, and even your dog. Parking fee is $5.
April 8: Bring the kids and a basket for the Annual Eastern Egg Hunt, taking place from 10 a.m. to noon at Fort McAllister State Park. There’s even an Easter Bonnet Parade. Call 912-727-2339 to pre-register.
April 22: Check out some of the city’s amazing private homes during the Ardsley Park/Chatham Crescent Garden Club: Tour of Homes & Gardens. Tickets to the self-guided walking tour are $45; tour times are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
April 29: The Miles to Margaritas 5K at Daffin Park is a run for the rest of us. Complete the 5K, whether running or walking, then enjoy refreshing margaritas at the finish line. The run starts at 8 a.m.
May 5-7: For those who love the paranormal, attend the Southeast Hollows Haunt Convention at the Savannah Convention Center. The event features vendors, daily activities, seminars and a Masquerade Ball and Costume Contest.
