Vic's on the River and the Olde Pink House are big competitors. The main difference between Vic's on the River and the Olde Pink House is that Vic's on the River has riverside dining.
My favorite place to sit at Vic's is in the bar area which isn't like most bars. There's a piano player and large windows on the far side of the bar with high top tables. I recommend calling Vic's ahead of time for reservations for one of these tables. All you need to do is tell them that you would like to sit in the bar area on the riverside of the restaurant at one of their high top tables. If you manage to get one of these tables, you will enjoy viewing the large ships as they go by on the Savannah River and under the Talmage River.
Recommendations for food include fried green tomatoes, crab cakes, and steaks. Their portions are fair as well as their prices. Vic's, like most restaurants in Savannah, is casual and the attire should be comfortable. You can go in with shorts, flip-flops, and a collared shirt, or you're welcome to get dressed up in slacks, button up shirt, coat, and tie. For the most part, you'll find the locals wearing flip flops, jeans, and a nice shirt.
