You’ve heard about Georgia peaches. Justin Bieber even sings about them. There’s a reason for that. Georgia peaches offer a sweet taste of deliciousness in every bite.
Peach cobbler is the classic Georgie dessert, particularly in the summertime when those peaches are fresh. In a show of our hospitality, we’ll reveal the best spots to enjoy a peach cobbler during your Savannah stay.
You’ll want to start at the place with the dessert in the name: The Peach Cobbler Factory at 51 Barnard St. The Peach Cobbler Factory opened in 2013 delivering premium desserts made the old-fashioned way just like your grandmother made. If peach cobbler’s not your jam, they serve a variety of flavors, from honey apple to cherry to blackberry to sweet potato pecan.
The Georgia Peach Cobbler at the Crystal Beer Parlor is dubbed “best in the State.” They could be right about that. It’s served hot with vanilla ice cream, the way any good cobbler should be.
“The Culture Trip’ lists Sisters of the New South as one of the Top Ten places in Georgia to get cobbler. The flavors pop and the crust is divine.
The Georgia peach cobbler at Good Times Jazz Bar also gets rave reviews. It’s homemade and served with Leopold’s vanilla ice cream.
Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room, 107 W. Jones St., offers an experience with its Southern favorites. You eat at a table-for-ten and pass around the platters of fried chicken, cornbread dressing, black-eyed peas, sweet potato soufflé, and more. The menu varies, but if you hit it on a day when peach cobbler is for dessert, you’ve hit the jackpot.
The same is true for The Pirates’ House, which offers a rotating choice of desserts of the day.
If you prefer to make your own, hit up the Forsyth Farmers Market. It's open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. Grab a basket of fresh peaches, head back to your vacation rental and bake your cobbler in your well-equipped kitchen.
