Every parent knows traveling with kids can be challenging. But it can be a lot of fun as well. Savannah offers plenty of options for keeping your pre-teenagers busy on your next vacation

The Pirates' House

There are plenty of reasons that kids love a visit to the PiratesHouse. Start with its location a block from the Savannah River and the historic building that houses it. Add its haunted history that includes a pirate rendezvous spot where sailors from around the world once gathered. Then top that off with a Southern Lunch Buffet served seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., which includes dessert. 

Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace Museum 

The Girl Scouts in your troop will enjoy seeing the birthplace of the founder of the Girl Scout Movement. A trailblazer, Low was born in the house in 1860. She organized the first Girl Scout troop in Savannah in 1912, believing in the power of every girl. The museum houses an amazing collection of art, artifacts, and memorabilia from the early days of the organization.

Tybee Island Beaches

Take a drive just 18 miles outside Savannah to discover the beaches of Tybee Island. The island is home to five beaches that span three miles. Bring sunscreen, a beach towel and your swimsuit then hit the waves. 

Escape Room

Take on the challenge of escaping one of the five escape room adventures at The Escape Company. Put your brain power to work solving puzzles at this family-owned business to escape the room. Its fun even if you dont figure it out. 

Take a Segway Tour

Hop on board a Segway or e-bike for a 60-minute tour of the Historic District with Adventure Tours in Motion. Guests enjoy the funny-looking helmets, and the tour guides make it fun to learn the areas history.

Take a Ghost Tour

Ghost City Tours Grave Tales Ghost Tour is a top-rated activity for all ages. The tour spins eerie tales of the citys history with an exploration of Savannahs most haunted spots - historic streets, cemeteries, and spooky neighborhoods. Tickets start at $9.99 for those 6-11 and $24.99 for 12 and up (5 and under are free). 

Of course, there are plenty of other activities that tweens will love, including the shops and amazing restaurants.
