AJ’s Dockside Restaurant: Located at 1315 Chatham Avenue
The turquoise building with blue- and white-striped awnings has been a Tybee Island fixture since 2003, and from the looks of things, will continue to be a fixture for many more decades to come. Standing two stories tall and offering views that extend forever, the umbrellaed tables on the patio offer a great place to watch the dolphins frolic in the distance as you chow down on some delicious seafood. Inside of AJ’s Dockside Restaurant Tybee Island, the casual atmosphere is colorful and chill; a brightly colored mural painted on one wall will keep your children occupied looking for all the magical creatures and flowers they can find.
The Menu
Sunset visits are when we visit the most, and as frequent visitors, we can honestly say we’ve yet to have even a mediocre meal at this local hot spot! Offering every island specialty from conch fritters to blackened shrimp and grits, gumbo, and cheeseburgers, there’s a dish served at AJ’s that will sate every appetite! Vegetarian selections include salads, veggie burgers, and key lime pie. And since we’re on the subject of desserts, we’ve made our way through the dessert menu more than a few times in the 15 years AJ’s Dockside Restaurant Tybee Island has been open, and it’s official: EVERYTHING is delicious! Our favorite desserts change from week to week, but currently it’s the Quadruple Chocolate Mousse Pie that we crave!
