Winter offers a fantastic time to visit, when Savannah has less visitors and a full slate of activities. Below are 11 of our favorite things to do in Savannah during winter 2023.

Jan.13-14: You may not think of Savannah as a hockey town, but the Enmarket Savannah Hockey Classic at Enmarket Arena could change your mind. Four collegiate teams from Georgia and Florida compete for the Thrasher Cup title.

Jan. 15-16: The city honors the legacy of MLK Jr. with three events: A Citywide Memorial Worship Service on Jan. 15 at St. Phillip Monumental African Methodist Episcopal Church, 1112 Jefferson St.; the Martin Luther King Parade at 10 a.m. on Jan. 16 and a Jazz Concert at 2 p.m. Jan. 16 at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 311 E. Harris St.

Jan. 19-21: Mountainfilm on Tour offers a selection of adventure-packed and inspirational films at the Trustees Theater, 215 E. Broughton St. Check for updates.

Jan. 20-22: Discover everything you need for your DIY projects at the 23rd Low Country Home & Garden Show at the Savannah Convention Center.

Fridays/Saturdays in February: Learn about one of the city’s long and rich traditions at “Potable Gold:” Savannah’s Madeira Tradition at 5:30 p.m. at Davenport House, 323 E. Broughton St.

Feb. 4-5: See living-history demonstrations from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in an outdoor setting during the Colonial Faire & Muster at Wormsloe State Historic Site, 7601 Skidaway Road.

Feb. 10-12: Savannah Animazing-Con is an annual Japanese anime, manga, and cosplay fan convention for all ages, held at the Savannah Convention Center.

Feb. 16-19: Book lovers, rejoice! The 15th Savannah Book Festival celebrates nationally recognized and local authors. Festival Saturday offers free admission with events at venues around the Telfair, Chippewa and Wright squares.

Feb. 19: Continue celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with the MLK Gospel Festival,  4-6 p.m. at New Generation Full Gospel Baptist Church, 2020 Tennessee Ave.

Feb. 20-24: American Traditions Vocal Collection, a professional competition, celebrates 30 years of song at Plant Riverside District. Prizes range from $500 to $12,000. 

Feb. 24-26: Check out three days of powerboats, fishing demonstrations and maritime exhibits during The Savannah Boat Show at the Savannah Convention Center. 

Feb. 25: The Skidaway Island Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K offers an opportunity to run through one of the region’s most beautiful courses.
