Were not gonna lie. Summertime in Savannah gets a little warm. Okay, hot. Summer is hot in the South. Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to cool off during your Savannah stay

Enjoy the splash pads in the squares: The Ellis Square Splash Pad opens Memorial Day weekend with dawn to dusk hours. In addition, the event space at Forsyth Park becomes a splash pad on hot summer days.

Or get 24/7 access to a pool when you book your stay in a home with a private pool. After a day strolling Savannahs historic streets, cool off with a dip when you get back to your rental. If your vacation property does not have a private pool, no worries. Our rentals come with first-place amenities including access to our exclusive resort-style pool at 19 Silver Ave. in Tybee Island.

How about a refreshing lemonade to cool you off? Some of our top picks include Vinnie Van Go-Gos, 317 W. Bryan St.; Repiccis Italian Ice at the River Street Market, 502 River St.; the pink lemonade at Gallery Espresso, 234 Bull St.; homemade lemonade at Kayak Kafe, 1 E. Broughton St., and Sentient Bean Coffee Shop and Cafe, 13 E. Park Ave., which makes lemon or limeade using organic juice and house-made simple syrup.

Or how about an ice cream cone or milkshake? Leopolds Ice Cream, 212 E. Broughton St., which has served generations of families since 1912. The soda fountain creations are legendary, with a wide range of ice cream flavors, malts, old-fashioned sodas, banana splits, and sundaes.

Pop into one of Savannahs museums to enjoy the AC. Telfair Museum is three in one. The Jepson Center and Childrens Art Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., showcasing a permanent collection that includes the Bird Girl statue, and revolving exhibits. The childrens museum has engaging and hands-on displays for creative minds.
