With Father’s Day just around the corner (June 16), maybe it’s time to take a trip with the guys. Savannah offers a great location, with plenty of things to do, food to eat, and drinks to, well you know, drink. Here are a few of our favorite activities to enjoy during a weekend getaway to Savannah.
Go For a Paddle
Book a salt marsh paddle tour with Sea Kayak Georgia, located minutes from downtown Savannah on Tybee Island. Their seasoned guides love showing off the pristine coast on half-day, full-day or sunset tours. Explore the marshes, barrier islands, or open ocean. They offer an array of tours for all skill levels. Be prepared to see lots of wildlife, maybe even a dolphin or two.
Bottoms Up!
Enjoy a cold one at one of Savannah’s breweries. Southbound Brewing Co., is a go-to spot for live music and brews, with a taproom offering up to 20 beers on tap in addition to non-alcoholic house-made sodas. The brewery is both family and dog-friendly. Coastal Empire Beer Co. offers unique flavors like Inshore Slam IPA, a tropical-style Coco Pina Gose, and Savannah Brown Ale. The taproom opens at 5 p.m. weekdays and noon on Saturdays. Grab a table in the outdoor beer garden at Moon River Brewing Co. for happy hour from 4-7 p.m. daily. Pours start at $4.
Dive into a Different Era
A visit to the American Prohibition Museum is a step back in time, when bootleggers ran the moonshine and gangsters ran the markets. Tickets start at about $30 for the museum and access to the speakeasy, including the first drink. Get a prohibition-era craft cocktail after a tour of the museum. Or book a Cocktail Class to get pro bartending tips, including a step-by-step guide for two cocktails.
Tee Up
Hit 18 holes of some of the best golf in the Southeast during your stay. Whatever the skill level of you and your buddies, the local courses are a challenging, relaxing way to spend quality time together. Book a tee time at The Club at Savannah Harbor, with a course that offers spectacular views of historic Savannah while winding through tidal wetlands.
Cast Your Line
Savannah offers outstanding inshore light tackle fishing. There is always something biting, but it’s a good idea to go with a guide who’s sure to get you on the fish. Book a charter with Silver Dreams in Savannah for inshore fishing. Summer is a great time for tarpon and redfish.
Book your stay at one of our amazing vacation properties right in the middle of all the action in Savannah’s Historic District. Pickett’s Place, for example, is a three-bedroom/two-bath contemporary townhouse blocks from Chatham and Pulaski Squares, with resplendent outdoor spaces.
