Savannah’s beauty practically sings in the springtime, with great weather making it prime time to stop and smell the flowers. There are plenty of other activities to enjoy as well.
Stroll the Squares
Our 22 historic squares get a lot of attention for a good reason, with giant oaks and sparkling fountains. Charming homes surround each square, along with historic churches, restaurants, shops, and museums. Forsyth Park is the most well-known, but visit some of the others.
Dine Al Fresco
There is nothing quite like sitting on a restaurant patio and soaking in the Savannah vibe. Grab a pizza at Vinnie Van Go Go’s. One of our personal favorites is Vic’s on the River, with a patio that boasts centuries-old oaks. Check out a bird’s eye view at Rocks on the Rooftop in the Bohemian Hotel. Honestly, walk along any historic street, and you’ll find an excellent restaurant with outdoor seating and delicious menu items.
Have a Shopping Adventure
From boho-chic to locally made art to upscale fashion, Savannah’s stores and specialty boutiques do not disappoint. City Market, River Street, and Bull Street make for a beautiful day of browsing and buying. As with eateries, there is something new to discover around each corner.
Explore Our Churches
Some of the holiest days of religious calendars occur during springtime. This year, Palm Sunday falls on March 28; Easter on April 4, and Passover on March 27-April 4. Attend a service at one of our beloved, historic churches. The towering steeples of Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist grace the Savannah skyline. The First African Baptist Church, believed to be home to the oldest continuous African-American congregation in America, started in 1777. Congregation Mickve Israel is the third oldest Jewish congregation in the U.S., dating to 1733.
Take a Trolley Tour
Old Savannah Trolley Tours has been rolling since 1979, giving visitors a fantastic view and descriptions of the city. Take the Hop On/Hop Off tour to visit Savannah’s most popular spots.
Celebrate Art
The Savannah College of Art and Design Museum of Art features emerging and established artists through rotating exhibits that change with the academic term. The college has more than 11,000 students from more than 100 countries, so enjoy the diversity in the collection.
Walk Through History
The Footprints of Savannah Walking Tour brings to life stories of the slave trade and the cotton trade. The guide carries a wealth of knowledge, professionalism, and enthusiasm to the tour. It is truly a one-of-a-kind experience.
Find your Sea Legs
Savannah sits by a river and serves as a major seaport. The Savannah River, its tributaries, and Savannah’s proximity to the Atlantic continue to play an essential role for the city. Climb aboard a Savannah Riverboat Cruise for a sightseeing tour of the harbor.
Book your Savannah spring getaway and explore to your heart’s content.
