Savannah makes an extraordinary Easter destination - whether you get away for a long weekend, the whole week, or just a couple of days. Easter falls on April 17, so expect warm weather and hopefully, sunny days for your holiday activities. Heres a rundown to help you plan an EGG-cellent Easter.

Stay

Book a large home for your familys vacation, giving you privacy, lots of space, and access to everything Savannah has to offer. All our Savannah vacation rentals make you feel at home the minute you step in the door. Sit on the porch and sip coffee or enjoy a private courtyard. On Forsyth Park offers three bedrooms, two baths and a covered porch with a lovely view. Larger families can book the Jay-Ann House with four bedrooms and four baths with a great location near Washington Square.

Fort McAllister State Park in nearby Richmond Hill has an Easter Egg hunt from 10 a.m. to noon on April 16. Bring a picnic and enjoy the day. The cost is $10 per participant and registration is required. Lutheran Church of the Ascension holds an Egg Hunt in Wright Square with this years event set to begin at 10 a.m. St. John Baptist Church, 2415 E. Derenne Ave., traditionally holds a community-wide Egg Hunt on Easter Sunday. Check with other churches close to your vacation rental

Dine

Treat yourself to an amazing holiday meal. Savannah offers a wonderful variety of culinary experiences, including a big Southern buffet, seafood, and carefully crafted, locally-sourced menus. Reserve a table at one of the local favorites, such as The Olde Pink HouseVics on the River, and Hueys Southern Cafe. Families with young children will enjoy The PiratesHouse or an Easter Brunch Cruise aboard a Savannah Riverboat.

Worship

Consider attending Easter service at one of the historic churches in the city. Christ Church, founded in 1733 as an Episcopal congregation, was the first house of worship in the colony of Georgia. The Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist, 222 E. Harris St., was established in the late 1700s to accommodate a growing Catholic population. Just about every denomination is represented with a house of worship in the Historic District. Don your Easter bonnet and find one within walking distance of your Savannah vacation rental. Or get up early and drive to the Tybee Island Pier & Pavilion for the Easter Sunrise Service, which usually begins around 6 a.m.

Play

In addition to holiday activities, be sure to leave plenty of time for exploring the squares and parks that make Savannah one of Americas truly spectacular cities. Take a bike ride around your neighborhood, pick up a delicious brew from the Sentient Bean on the southside of Forsyth Park and take a tour aboard the Old Savannah Trolley

Book your stay, then hop on over to Savannah for a basketful of Easter fun.
